New educational website on the work of Dom Hans van der Laan

www.domhansvanderlaan.nl

Instead of a new book, Van der Laan expert Caroline Voet created a website, a digital study room of the Dutch Benedictine monk and architect Dom Hans van der Laan (1904-1991). It guides you through his theory on the three architectonic scales and his own proportional series of the plastic number.  It equally shows several practical examples for you to explore. You can easily switch between the two to become fully skilled in understanding Dom van der Laan’s design methods, to learn about architecture and space in general, and to make all these thoughts your own by drawing.

The website and its content are developed by Caroline Voet, Faculty of Architecture, KU Leuven, in collaboration with the Van der Laan Archives and the Van der Laan Foundation,

This website is commissioned by the Van der Laan Foundation, with the support of Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie and Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.

The website is developed by Ass. Prof. Dr. Caroline Voet of KU Leuven, Faculty of Architecture.

It is based on the PhD Between the Lines and its Margins on Dom Hans van der Laan’s 1977 publication The Architectonic Space, and all of his research through drawings and unpublished source material from the Van der Laan Archives. New drawings and analysis are made by Voet en De Brabandere. The website is designed by Mathieu Serruys and Joris Verdoodt.
